- Free tier retention limits are restrictive
What it is
Fireflies is a meeting assistant. Its bot joins your calls, records and transcribes them, produces a summary with action items, and pushes the result into the tools where work continues — CRM, task manager, Slack.
Where it shines
The searchable archive is the feature people underestimate before they have one. Being able to search every meeting your team has held for a client name, a competitor, or a phrase like we agreed to postpone turns conversations into a queryable knowledge base. Six months in, that archive is the reason nobody churns.
CRM integration makes it operationally valuable for sales. Call notes, next steps and deal context populate automatically, which both improves data quality and removes the admin work reps hate most.
Conversation analytics — talk-to-listen ratios, topic frequency, question rates — give managers coaching material based on what actually happened rather than what was reported.
Where it falls short
The social problem is real. A recording bot changes how people speak, and in some cultures and companies it is resented. Announcing it, obtaining consent and setting a clear policy is not optional, and legally in many places it is required.
Accuracy is good but not perfect. Strong accents, crosstalk and bad audio produce errors, and summaries occasionally attribute a decision to the wrong person — verify before acting on anything consequential.
Free tier storage limits are tight enough that the archive benefit only really appears on paid plans.
Pricing in plain English

Who should use it
Sales teams, customer success teams and any organisation with a heavy meeting load that wants a searchable record. Get the consent policy right before rollout.

Fireflies.ai FAQs
Do I need consent to record meetings with Fireflies?
In many jurisdictions yes, and in all of them it is good practice. The bot announces itself when it joins, but you should also tell participants and follow your company policy and local recording law.
How accurate is Fireflies transcription?
Very good for clear English on a decent connection. Accuracy drops with heavy accents, crosstalk and poor audio — always check quotes against the recording before relying on them.
Fireflies or Otter?
Fireflies is stronger on CRM integration and sales workflows. Otter is stronger for live in-room transcription and note-taking during a meeting.
