How to check your result

  1. Go to ssc.gov.in and open the Results section.
  2. Select the tab for the examination you appeared in.
  3. Open the result notice PDF, which lists the roll numbers of qualified candidates.
  4. Use your browser’s find function to search for your roll number rather than reading through the list.
  5. For marks, log in to the candidate portal with your registration ID and password once the marks window opens.
  6. Download and save both the result notice and your scorecard immediately — scorecard windows close after a limited period.

The answer key challenge window

SSC publishes a tentative answer key after most computer-based examinations, along with your response sheet, and opens a short window during which candidates can challenge specific questions on payment of a fee per question.

This window is genuinely short — usually a few days — and it does not reopen. If you believe an answer is wrong, raise it within the window with a supporting reference. Challenges upheld by the Commission result in the key being revised for every candidate.

Cut-off marks and normalisation

SSC publishes category-wise cut-off marks with the result. Because examinations are conducted in multiple shifts with different question papers, marks are normalised across shifts before the cut-off is applied.

This is why a raw score cannot be compared directly against a published cut-off. The normalised score is what counts, and it appears on the scorecard.

If you have lost your registration number

  1. Check the email you received at registration — SSC sends the registration ID by email and SMS.
  2. Use the forgot registration or forgot password option on the SSC login page.
  3. If that fails, the result notice PDF is searchable by roll number, which also appears on your admit card.
  4. As a last resort, contact the relevant SSC regional office. Contact details are on ssc.gov.in.

What is normalisation and why does it matter?
Because SSC conducts examinations across multiple shifts with different papers, raw scores are statistically adjusted so that candidates in a harder shift are not disadvantaged. The normalised score is what is compared against the cut-off, so your raw score alone does not tell you whether you have qualified.
Can I challenge the answer key?
Yes, during the short window SSC opens after publishing the tentative answer key, on payment of a fee per question challenged. Challenges must be supported by a reference. If the Commission accepts a challenge, the key is revised for all candidates.
